Teaching Practice

(This teaching plan was the one I made for my third day of teaching.

The teacher allowed me to use the format of our lesson plan in Philippines which is somewhat similar from their lp)

Grade Level: Grade 4-A

Topic: Sources of Energy and It's Main Types

Date: August 15, 2018


I. Objectives: At the end of the period, the students should have:

a. identified what is energy;

b. defined the kinetic energy and potential energy;

c. treasured the importance of energy in our day-to-day living.

IV. Procedure

A. Preparation

1. Preliminary Activities

a. Prayer

b. Checking of Attendance

c. CHSF (Clean, Healthy, Safe and Friendly)

-The teacher will ask the pupils to pick any pieces of papers or plastics under their desks/ armchairs

2. Setting of standards

-The teacher will present the rules through the pictures of a cartoon characters

3. Motivation

-The teacher will let the pupils play a game called "Trip to Jerusalem" which has something to do in the topic to be discuss.

4. Springboard

-The teacher will present a picture though a "tarpapel"(printred picture in bigger size than the size of a bondpaper) showing the sources of energy.

- The teacher will pose some questions regarding the picture

B. Presentation

- Through the game that the pupils had played and the picture shown the teacher will introduce and discuss the concepts of the topic.

- The teacher will present the meaning of Energy and it's two main types which is the potential and kinetics energy through a graphic organizer.

- the teacher will conduct an enrichment activity for the pupils for their further understanding of the topic. This will be done by group where in the teacher will give each group a word(either its a word that represents action or not) and the pupil in front of the line will pass and whisper the given word behind him/her until it will reach the last pupil who will go in front and write on the board the word whether it belongs to the kinetic or potential energy.

C. Practice

- the teacher will give a paper and pencil test for the pupils , just a short seatwork for them.

*After their seatwork, the teacher will ask the pupils if what they have learned within the period.

*The teacher will also ask the pupils the relevance of energy in their daily living.


5.2 Time management and organizing activities

  • around 5-10 minutes were allotted in the preparation part

  • 50 minutes during the presentation

  • rest of the time within the period were allotted for the individual activity, summary/ generalization of the topic and valuing.

5.3 Problem- Solving

Fortunately, I didn't find any problem in teaching the pupils aside from the language barrier because despite it they actively participated in the discussion, game and activities.


5.4 Classroom Management

The flow of my teaching demo was made easy through the set of rules presented to the pupils and that they were able to follow it throughout the discussion.
