Opening One’s Heart to New Environment

Updated: Nov 23, 2018

Excursions(August 12,19, & 26, 2018)

The best thing a person can have is the feeling of being welcomed and loved as well as surrounded by people whom he/she can share the laughters and joy. I had encountered these feelings every day ever since my first step on Kendari City, from the very beginning that Sir Asrun and Aman picked up us at the airport, from the buddies that became our friends who wholeheartedly assisted and accompanied us, from the teachers and students who welcomed us warmly, from the people we met along the way and in anywhere, from some of the students of HaluOleo University who became also as our friends, from our dorm mates and neighbors who shared their sweet smiles and showed great kindness to us, up to the last day that we stayed at Kendari. They served as one of the factors upon opening our hearts in their environment and because of them I didn’t felt any homesickness at all.

So as for our break from the teaching demos, we had our excursions every Sunday wherein we gained new friends and family but we also gained friends with other people we met for every time we go out. We appreciate all the efforts and time of our buddies that they gave to us upon bringing us to some of the famous sites in the place. On the first day of our excursion, together with members of the faculty and staff of teacher department, we went in the place where the HaluOleo University built a mini-library ,there we met new friends and they brought us also in a farmhouse wherein we gathered altogether and had some time talking, making friends with the others. We even got to hear one's version of the song "If You're Happy and You Know It". For the our second excursion day, we went at Karamba Island hosted by the class teacher of our fellow participant from Thailand. There we enjoyed swimming on the water and in riding the boat. For our third and last day of excursion, we visited the Bokori Island, one of the famous beaches in the Kendari City in which this excursion was hosted by the family of the Vice-President of HaluOleo University. We enjoyed every moment and made memories worth keeping for.

I, together with Shierra and Jefferyl joined the teachers and students in dancing the poco poco dance one of their traditional dances during the celebration of their Independence Day
